Great spring seniors activities in Vernon

March 26th, 2018

Spring is here and now is the time to get outside, get some fresh air, and get some of that much-needed Vitamin D. Vernon is a city with some amazing opportunities for seniors to get out and enjoy the spring. Here are a few options to consider, now that the weather is getting nicer:

Take a walk in the park

There are so many hiking trails and provincial parks in and around Vernon that you could spend all years trying something different each weekend. Hiking at Kalamalka Lake Provincial Park is an excellent way to get out and enjoy nature. There are plenty of picnic tables there as well, so you can take your lunch and enjoy the whole day outside.

As sweet as honey

Planet Bee Honey Farm and Meadery is a great place to learn about honey making, taste some of their different products, and buy a beautiful beeswax candle that will fill your home with that sweet smell, without having to worry about smoke or dripping.

A tractor ride through the Orchards

Opening May 1st, 2018, Davison Orchards is the place to go for fresh seasonal produce and amazing homemade pies. Sit back in an apple bin, driven around behind a tractor, and find out how a working farm produces everything that’s good to eat. It’s a perfect way to spend the end of spring.

Tour through history

In downtown Vernon, the Heritage Mural Tour is a great way to relive historical moments and check out what made Vernon the amazing place it is today. This is a great, relaxing walk that you can do at your own pace.

At The Hamlets, the premier senior living community in Vernon, we want to see all our residents get outside and enjoy everything the spring and the city have to offer. Come and see what exciting activities we have planned.
