Late summer seniors activities in Vernon

Late summer seniors activities in Vernon

August 26th, 2018

As the end of summer rapidly approaches, citizens of Vernon of all ages are looking for activities to keep them occupied and entertained until fall. Luckily, there are many things to do in communities around Vernon at the end of August and beginning of September.

From August 29th to September 2nd, Armstrong is home to the 119th annual Interior Provincial Exhibition (IPE). September long weekend will be busy as there will be a rodeo, midway, multiple stages with performances of all different ages and types, and a trapeze show. So no matter if you’re a fan of singing, livestock, Ferris wheels, or trying great food, this is a perfect activity for anyone. And August 29th and 30th are Seniors’ days, so the price of admission is only $12.

Vernon seniors are serious about staying active, getting outside, and participating in exciting, healthy activities. The Riverside Community Centre in Enderby is hosting the 3rd annual Acro Yoga Unity Fest from From August 31st to September 3rd. During these four days, they will be holding yoga classes for all skill levels, along with swimming (another great activity for seniors) and some dancing as well. If you’re an experienced master or want to pick it up for the very first time, this is a great time to enjoy some yoga.

If your interests run more artistically, the Allan Brooks Nature Centre is hosting an open studio that features Amélie Brindamour explaining and exploring the concepts and ideas that inspire her artistic work. She’s an artist and art educator based in Montreal whose current project, In Oscillation, has been inspired by the trees and fungi discovered in her walks through British Columbia forests.

The Hamlets at Vernon always want to see their residents outside and enjoying everything that Vernon and the surrounding areas have to offer. Seniors living in Vernon have so many activities to enjoy, so come and see how we encourage and support our residents.
