Summer Senior Activities in Vernon

Summer Senior Activities in Vernon

May 20th, 2019

One important part of the summer for anyone living in a senior living community is getting outside and enjoying the outdoors. At The Hamlets in Vernon, we encourage our residents to get some sunshine and be a part of the community. Luckily we live in Vernon, which means there are numerous things to do and places to explore.

Historic O’Keefe Ranch

The ranch is the place to be in the summertime in Vernon. They are open every day, offering numerous things to do and see. One of the highlights is the Corn Maze, which offers a 2.5 acre maze that takes around 30 minutes to complete. It’s a great way to get outside, get some fresh air, and learn a little bit about corn at the same time.

Mackie Lake House

If you’d rather stay inside and enjoy the views surrounding Kalamalka Lake, a nice afternoon tea at the Mackie Lake House might be the perfect way to spend a summer afternoon. Every Thursday, they serve tea in fine bone china accompanied by sandwiches, cakes, scones, and desserts that will appeal to everyone.

Vernon Farmer’s Market

Many people living in retirement homes want to get outside and get the same tasty food they remember from their childhood. Every Monday and Thursday, the Farmer’s Market takes over Kal Tire Place and runs from 8am to 1pm. Come and try an amazing selection of fresh produce and artisan items that will make your kitchenette the best ever.

Civic Sounds

For the music enthusiast, come to downtown Vernon every second Thursday and you’ll enjoy live music from local bands. Bring a picnic dinner and stroll through the plaza before you rock on with some great music.

The Hamlets at Vernon always encourages our residents to get outside and enjoy the many activities we plan – or make their own. We want you to get outside, get some sun, and enjoy one of the prettiest cities in Canada.
